Audacious and innovative are two adjectives that perfectly describe Versace. Never afraid of critics and always pushing the limits to create new styles, Gianni Versace managed to appeal to the most influential people. The brand’s creations are always more innovative and surprising every year thanks to unusual colour and material associations.
The history of the brand Versace began in Italy in 1946 with the birth of Gianni Versace. From an early age, he was passionate about fashion and learnt from his mother, a seamstress. He soon wanted more and decided to open a shop in Milan with the help of his brother and sister, Donatella, whose creations – that were totally different from the common designs of this time – encountered immediate success. In the 1980s, the brand diversified its range of products with the creation of perfumes, watches, glasses and handbags. Fame continued and Versace original creations became unbelievably successful across the world among critics and stars such as Elton John or Lady Diana. Yet, the wave Versace stopped in 1997 with the assassination of Gianni in Miami. Success came back a few years later thanks to the talent of Donatella, who wanted to keep the brand and the creative spirit of her brother alive. Materials keep blending to break fashion codes and surprise all fashion shows without falling into sobriety, for our greatest pleasure.
